My name is Charlotte Miranda, and in the summer of 2014, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a week at the Sierra Nevada Field Campus, participating in a bird identification class led by Dave Shuford. I have grown up loving birding and hiking, so this adventure was very exciting. On the trip, I learned a lot about bird identification and the Sierras. I saw many life birds like the Yellow-headed Blackbird, the Evening Grosbeak, and the Sage Thrasher. My favorite spotting was a Lazuli Bunting on a young pine tree in a field of purple flowers. When I bird, I also like to take pictures by digiscoping, using my iphone with my spotting scope, so I was able to get a lot of memorable pictures. The week I spent in the Sierras was unforgettable and I am very grateful to have had such an amazing adventure.
