Racism is inexcusable. The members of the Central Valley Bird Club Board of Directors are sickened by the recent demonstrations of racism in this country. George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in the street. Christian Cooper, a birder like all of us, was falsely accused by a white woman in New York’s Central Park. Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. There are countless others.
One of the goals of our club is to provide opportunities to learn more about the birds of the Central Valley. This means opportunities for everyone. Our cities in the Central Valley are among the most diverse in the country. We support black birders and all birders of color. Black lives matter.
The Central Valley Bird Club is committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all of our current and prospective members. Everyone is welcome. Please feel free to reach out to us at outreach@cvbirds.org.
